Terms and Conditions

Last updated: 24 September 2026

These Terms and Conditions govern the use of https://amberdragons.co.uk/ and the purchase of ready-made products, personalised products and bespoke stained glass commissions from Amber Dragons.

Please read these terms before placing an order. By placing an order, approving a commission or purchasing a product, you confirm that you have read and accepted these Terms and Conditions.

Nothing in these terms limits or removes your statutory consumer rights.

1. About Amber Dragons

Amber Dragons is an independent stained glass art business operated by Christine Saunders in Somerset, United Kingdom.

Trading name: Amber Dragons
Owner: Christine Saunders
Website: https://amberdragons.co.uk/
Email: contact@amberdragons.co.uk
Business address: 13 Oak Apple Drive, Bridgwater, Somerset, TA6 3UW

In these terms, “Amber Dragons”, “we”, “us” and “our” refer to Christine Saunders trading as Amber Dragons.

“You”, “your” and “customer” refer to the person placing an order, purchasing a product or commissioning artwork.

2. Scope of These Terms

These terms apply to:

  • Purchases made through the Amber Dragons online shop
  • Orders placed by email
  • Bespoke stained glass commissions
  • Personalised products
  • Ready-made stained glass artwork
  • Products purchased at a distance
  • Any associated packaging, delivery and aftercare services

A bespoke quotation, commission agreement or written order confirmation may contain additional terms specific to a project. If there is a conflict, the specifically agreed written terms will take priority for that commission.

3. Website Use

You may use the Amber Dragons website for lawful personal and commercial-enquiry purposes.

You must not:

  • Use the website unlawfully or fraudulently
  • Attempt to gain unauthorised access
  • Introduce viruses or malicious software
  • Interfere with the website’s operation or security
  • Copy or commercially exploit website content without permission
  • Use automated systems to extract substantial amounts of content
  • Misrepresent your identity when making an enquiry or order

Access may be suspended where reasonably necessary to protect the website, its users or Amber Dragons.

4. Product Information

Amber Dragons takes reasonable care to ensure that product descriptions, dimensions, photographs and prices are accurate.

However, stained glass is handmade and individual. Natural and artistic variations may occur, including differences in:

  • Glass colour
  • Texture
  • Transparency
  • Pattern
  • Bubbles or traditional glass characteristics
  • Solder lines
  • Patina
  • Dimensions
  • The appearance of the piece under different lighting conditions

Colours displayed on a screen may differ from the finished artwork because of lighting, photography and individual display settings.

These normal handmade variations are not faults. This does not affect your legal rights where a product is damaged, faulty, not as described or does not meet the agreed specification.

5. Product Availability

Products are subject to availability.

Some artworks are unique, one-off pieces. Placing an item in a shopping basket does not reserve it.

If a product becomes unavailable after an order is placed, Amber Dragons will contact you and provide an appropriate refund.

We may withdraw or update products without notice before a contract has been formed.

6. Placing an Order

You are responsible for ensuring that the information supplied with your order is complete and accurate.

This includes:

  • Your name
  • Email address
  • Delivery address
  • Billing information
  • Product selection
  • Measurements
  • Personalisation details
  • Names, dates and wording
  • Delivery requirements

After an order is submitted, you should receive an acknowledgement or confirmation.

An acknowledgement confirms that the order has been received. It does not necessarily mean that it has been accepted.

A contract is formed when Amber Dragons confirms acceptance of the order or begins producing an expressly approved bespoke commission.

7. Right to Refuse or Cancel an Order

Amber Dragons may refuse or cancel an order where:

  • A product is unavailable
  • A price or description contains an obvious error
  • Payment cannot be authorised
  • Fraud or unlawful activity is suspected
  • Delivery is unavailable to the supplied address
  • A requested design is unlawful, offensive or infringes another person’s rights
  • The requested work cannot be completed safely or to an appropriate standard
  • Circumstances beyond our reasonable control prevent fulfilment

If payment has already been taken and Amber Dragons cancels the order, the amount paid for the unfulfilled work will be refunded.

8. Prices

Prices are shown in pounds sterling unless stated otherwise.

The total amount payable will be confirmed before the order is accepted. This may include:

  • Product price
  • Bespoke design charges
  • Personalisation charges
  • Packaging
  • Delivery
  • Installation, where specifically agreed
  • Any applicable taxes

Delivery charges will be displayed during checkout or included in a written quotation.

Amber Dragons may change prices at any time before an order is accepted. Price changes will not affect an order that has already been confirmed.

9. Payment

Accepted payment methods will be displayed during checkout or stated in the quotation.

Payment may be required:

  • In full when purchasing a ready-made product
  • By deposit and final balance for a bespoke commission
  • In agreed stages for larger commissions

The customer is responsible for ensuring that payment information is accurate and that sufficient funds are available.

Ownership of a physical product will not pass to the customer until full payment has been received.

Payment transactions may be handled by a third-party payment provider. Amber Dragons does not normally receive or store complete payment-card details.

10. Bespoke Stained Glass Commissions

Bespoke commissions are created according to individually agreed requirements.

The commission process may include:

  1. Initial enquiry
  2. Discussion of the proposed artwork
  3. Measurements or site information
  4. Design requirements
  5. A quotation
  6. Deposit payment
  7. Design development
  8. Customer approval
  9. Production
  10. Final payment
  11. Collection, delivery or installation where agreed

The exact process may vary depending on the size and complexity of the commission.

11. Quotations

Unless stated otherwise, a quotation is normally valid for 30 days.

A quotation may be revised if:

  • The design changes
  • Measurements change
  • Different glass or materials are requested
  • Additional work is required
  • Delivery or installation requirements change
  • Material or supplier costs change before acceptance
  • Relevant information was missing from the original enquiry

No additional charge will be applied to an accepted commission without explaining the reason and obtaining agreement where appropriate.

12. Deposits

A deposit may be required before design work, material purchasing or production begins.

The deposit amount and payment schedule will be confirmed in writing.

If a customer cancels a bespoke commission after work has begun, Amber Dragons may retain an amount that reasonably reflects:

  • Design work already completed
  • Materials purchased
  • Non-refundable supplier costs
  • Production work undertaken
  • Other genuine losses caused by the cancellation

A deposit will not be retained as an arbitrary penalty.

If Amber Dragons cannot complete the commission for reasons within our control, any payment relating to uncompleted work will be refunded.

13. Measurements and Installation Information

Customers must provide accurate measurements and relevant information about the intended location.

Where the customer supplies measurements, Amber Dragons is not responsible for problems directly caused by inaccurate or incomplete measurements.

For architectural glass, windows, doors or fitted panels, customers should disclose:

  • The intended location
  • Frame dimensions
  • Exposure to weather
  • Whether the glass is internal or external
  • Any known safety requirements
  • Any access restrictions
  • Relevant photographs or plans

Unless installation is expressly included in the quotation, the customer is responsible for arranging installation by a suitably qualified person.

The customer and installer are responsible for ensuring that installation complies with applicable building, glazing and safety requirements.

14. Design Approval

Where a design, drawing or specification is provided for approval, the customer must check it carefully.

Approval confirms acceptance of the:

  • General composition
  • Wording
  • Names and dates
  • Dimensions
  • Colour direction
  • Personalisation
  • Agreed specification

Handmade stained glass cannot always reproduce a digital design or reference image exactly.

Once approval has been given and production has begun, requested changes may incur additional costs and extend the completion period.

15. Customer-Supplied Designs and Images

If you provide photographs, drawings, logos, wording or other materials, you confirm that:

  • You have permission to use them
  • They do not infringe copyright, trade marks or other rights
  • Their use will not be unlawful or defamatory
  • You have permission from identifiable individuals where required

You agree to reimburse Amber Dragons for reasonable losses arising from a breach of these assurances.

Amber Dragons may refuse to reproduce material where ownership or permission is unclear.

16. Artistic Interpretation

Unless an exact specification is agreed, the customer acknowledges that a bespoke commission includes Christine Saunders’ artistic judgement and interpretation.

Reasonable creative decisions may be made concerning:

  • Glass selection
  • Texture
  • Colour placement
  • Cutting
  • Leading or copper foil
  • Solder lines
  • Structural support
  • Patina
  • Composition
  • Finishing

Normal artistic interpretation is not a defect where the completed piece substantially follows the approved design and specification.

17. Completion Times

Estimated completion times for bespoke commissions will be provided where possible.

Completion periods may depend on:

  • Design approval
  • Material availability
  • Complexity
  • Size
  • Customer response times
  • Supplier delays
  • Workload
  • Illness or emergency
  • Delivery or installation arrangements

Unless a completion date is expressly agreed as essential, stated times are estimates.

Amber Dragons will notify the customer of a significant delay and explain the available options.

18. Delivery

Available delivery methods and charges will be displayed during checkout or confirmed in writing.

Unless another timeframe is agreed, goods will be delivered without undue delay and normally within 30 days of the contract being formed.

Bespoke production time may be separate from the delivery period and will be agreed before work begins.

Customers must provide an accurate and complete delivery address.

Amber Dragons is not responsible for avoidable delays caused by incorrect information supplied by the customer.

19. Packaging and Fragile Products

Stained glass is fragile. Amber Dragons will use packaging considered reasonably appropriate for the product, which may include:

  • Protective wrapping
  • Reinforced boxes
  • Inner and outer packaging
  • Corner protection
  • Void-filling materials
  • Handling labels

Customers should open parcels carefully and avoid using sharp objects close to the artwork.

Packaging should be retained until the product has been inspected and confirmed as undamaged.

20. Proof of Postage, Tracking and Insurance

Amber Dragons will obtain proof of postage or dispatch where appropriate.

Tracked, signed or insured delivery may be used depending on the size, destination, fragility and value of the order.

Any delivery compensation or insurance obtained by Amber Dragons protects Amber Dragons against loss or damage in transit. It does not replace or limit the customer’s statutory rights.

Where Amber Dragons arranges delivery, the product remains at our risk until it comes into the physical possession of:

  • The customer; or
  • A person identified by the customer to receive it

21. Delivery Inspection and Transit Damage

Please inspect your order as soon as reasonably possible after delivery.

If the parcel or product appears damaged:

  • Photograph the unopened parcel
  • Photograph all sides of the packaging
  • Photograph the inner protective materials
  • Photograph the damaged product
  • Retain all packaging and labels
  • Contact Amber Dragons promptly

Reporting visible damage within 48 hours is extremely helpful for postal or courier claims. This requested timeframe does not remove or restrict your statutory rights.

Do not dispose of the product or packaging until advised.

22. Missing or Delayed Orders

Contact Amber Dragons if an order does not arrive within the expected period.

We will investigate with the delivery provider.

If an order is confirmed as lost, Amber Dragons will provide an appropriate replacement or refund.

The customer will not be required to pursue the delivery provider instead of exercising their rights against Amber Dragons.

23. Change-of-Mind Cancellation Rights

For eligible, non-personalised products purchased online, customers normally have 14 days from the day after delivery to notify Amber Dragons that they wish to cancel.

After notifying Amber Dragons, the customer normally has a further 14 days to return the product.

To cancel, email:

contact@amberdragons.co.uk

Please include:

  • Your name
  • Order number
  • Product details
  • Delivery date
  • A clear statement that you wish to cancel

24. Bespoke and Personalised Products

The statutory change-of-mind cancellation right does not normally apply to:

  • Bespoke stained glass commissions
  • Made-to-measure products
  • Products made to the customer’s specification
  • Clearly personalised products
  • Products altered at the customer’s request

This exception does not affect your rights if the product is faulty, damaged, not as described or does not conform to the agreed specification.

25. Returning an Eligible Product

Unless a product is faulty, damaged or incorrect, the customer is normally responsible for return postage costs.

Returns must be:

  • Packaged securely
  • Protected appropriately
  • Sent with all supplied components
  • Returned within the applicable period
  • Sent using a suitable tracked service
  • Insured for the product’s value where appropriate

Please retain proof of postage and tracking information.

You may handle a product only as much as reasonably necessary to establish its nature, characteristics and functioning.

Amber Dragons may reduce a refund where avoidable or excessive handling has diminished the product’s value.

26. Refunds

Where a valid change-of-mind cancellation applies, Amber Dragons will normally provide the refund within 14 days of:

  • Receiving the returned goods; or
  • Receiving acceptable evidence that the goods have been returned

The refund will include the cost of standard outbound delivery where required.

If a more expensive delivery service was selected, Amber Dragons is not required to refund the additional amount above the standard delivery cost.

Refunds will normally be made using the original payment method unless otherwise agreed.

27. Faulty, Damaged or Misdescribed Products

Products must be:

  • Of satisfactory quality
  • Fit for any agreed purpose
  • As described
  • Consistent with an approved bespoke specification

If a product is faulty, damaged, not as described or does not conform to the contract, contact Amber Dragons promptly.

Depending on the circumstances and your legal rights, the available remedy may include:

  • Repair
  • Replacement
  • Price reduction
  • Partial refund
  • Full refund

Nothing in these terms limits the statutory short-term right to reject qualifying faulty goods.

28. Care of Stained Glass

Customers should follow any care, display, hanging and cleaning instructions supplied with the product.

Stained glass should:

  • Be handled carefully
  • Be supported appropriately
  • Be kept away from unstable fittings
  • Not be suspended from unsuitable hooks or suction devices
  • Be cleaned using suitable methods
  • Be inspected if fittings or hanging materials deteriorate

Amber Dragons is not responsible for damage caused by:

  • Incorrect installation
  • Unsuitable hanging methods
  • Accidental impact
  • Misuse
  • Failure to follow care instructions
  • Unauthorised alteration or repair
  • Normal wear and ageing

This does not exclude responsibility for defects present when the product was supplied.

29. Repairs and Alterations

Please contact Amber Dragons before arranging a third-party repair or alteration to a product where you believe a fault may exist.

Unauthorised work may affect the ability to inspect the original issue or provide an appropriate remedy.

This clause does not prevent reasonable emergency action required to avoid further damage or danger.

30. Copyright and Intellectual Property

Unless agreed otherwise in a signed written agreement, Christine Saunders and Amber Dragons retain all intellectual property rights in:

  • Original stained glass designs
  • Commission drawings
  • Sketches
  • Templates
  • Photographs
  • Product descriptions
  • Website content
  • Logos and branding
  • Artwork concepts

Buying a physical artwork does not automatically transfer copyright in the design.

The customer may own and display the physical product for personal purposes but must not, without written permission:

  • Copy the design
  • Manufacture reproductions
  • Sell reproductions
  • Use the design commercially
  • Provide the design to another maker for reproduction
  • Use website photographs for commercial purposes
  • Remove copyright notices

A transfer of copyright must be expressly agreed in writing.

31. Photography of Completed Work

Amber Dragons may photograph completed artwork for business records, portfolio use, website content and social media.

Personal information, addresses, private messages and confidential details will not be intentionally published.

Where a commission contains sensitive personal information, identifiable people or confidential commercial content, permission will be requested where appropriate.

Customers may request confidentiality before the commission begins. Any agreed restriction should be recorded in writing.

32. Reviews and Customer Content

If you submit a review, testimonial or photograph for publication, you grant Amber Dragons permission to display it in connection with the business.

Personal information will not be published beyond what has been agreed or reasonably understood.

Amber Dragons may decline or remove content that is:

  • Unlawful
  • Abusive
  • Defamatory
  • Misleading
  • Infringing
  • Unrelated to the relevant product or service

33. Website Content

Website content is provided for general information.

While reasonable efforts are made to keep information accurate, website content should not be treated as professional architectural, structural, installation or safety advice.

Product suitability should be discussed before purchase where a specific use is important.

34. External Links

The website may contain links to independently operated websites.

Amber Dragons is not responsible for:

  • External content
  • External availability
  • Third-party privacy practices
  • Purchases made from another website
  • Loss arising solely from use of an external service

A link does not necessarily constitute endorsement.

35. Privacy and Cookies

Personal information is handled in accordance with the:

These policies explain how information and cookies are used, protected and retained.

36. Events Outside Our Reasonable Control

Amber Dragons will not be responsible for delay or failure caused by circumstances outside our reasonable control, including:

  • Severe weather
  • Fire
  • Flood
  • Natural disaster
  • Industrial action
  • Postal or courier disruption
  • Supplier failure
  • Internet or utility failure
  • Government restrictions
  • Serious illness or emergency

We will take reasonable steps to minimise the effects and contact affected customers where appropriate.

This clause does not remove statutory rights concerning delayed or undelivered goods.

37. Liability

Amber Dragons does not exclude or limit liability where doing so would be unlawful.
