What Can Be Commissioned?

Bespoke Stained Glass Created Around Your Ideas

A bespoke commission can begin with almost anything meaningful to you.

Christine has created stained glass inspired by animals, wildlife, landscapes, mythology, fantasy, personal memories and individual photographs.

Possible commission ideas include:

  • Pet portraits
  • Dogs, cats and other animals
  • Wildlife and nature
  • Moongazing hares
  • Foxes and woodland animals
  • Birds
  • Fantasy and mythology
  • Dragons
  • Zodiac and celestial imagery
  • Landscapes
  • Memorial pieces
  • Wedding and anniversary gifts
  • Personalised stained glass gifts
  • Round stained glass panels
  • Decorative stained glass panels

Every commission is different. Some customers arrive with a detailed idea or photograph, while others simply have a subject, colour or memory they would like Christine to explore.

From an Idea to a Finished Stained Glass Commission

Every bespoke project begins with understanding what the artwork needs to represent.

For some commissions, the subject may be a favourite animal or pet. For others, it may be a landscape, memory, fantasy scene or symbolic design.

Christine then considers how that idea can work specifically in stained glass.

This includes:

  • composition
  • proportion
  • glass colour
  • transparency
  • texture
  • hand-painted detail
  • structural lines
  • final size
  • intended display location

The objective is not simply to copy an image onto glass.

The design needs to work as stained glass while retaining the character and meaning of the original idea.

The finished piece should feel personal, distinctive and unmistakably handmade.

How a Bespoke Stained Glass Commission Works

1. Share Your Idea

Send Christine details about the artwork you are considering.

This might include photographs, sketches, favourite colours, dimensions or simply a description of the subject.

2. Discuss the Design

Christine will consider how the concept can be translated into stained glass and discuss the overall composition.

3. Agree the Details

Before work begins, the size, design direction, expected timescale and cost can be discussed.

4. Your Artwork Is Created

Christine selects suitable glass, prepares the design and adds detailed hand-painted elements where appropriate.

5. Finished & Carefully Prepared

Once complete, the artwork is finished and carefully prepared for collection or delivery, depending on the commission.

Bespoke Stained Glass Pet Portraits

A much-loved pet can make an especially meaningful subject for stained glass.

Christine can work from photographs to create artwork inspired by the individual animal, considering features such as:

  • face shape
  • markings
  • expression
  • coat
  • colouring
  • distinctive characteristics

The objective is not to produce a photographic reproduction.

Instead, the animal is interpreted through stained glass, painted detail and Christine’s own artistic style.

These commissions can be created as personal artwork, gifts or commemorative pieces.

Memorial Stained Glass

Stained Glass Created to Remember Someone Special

For some customers, a commission has a deeper personal meaning.

A memorial stained glass piece can incorporate imagery connected with a person or beloved animal, such as:

  • a favourite pet
  • flowers
  • wildlife
  • a meaningful landscape
  • personal colours
  • symbolic imagery
  • a special place

The design does not need to be overtly commemorative.

Often, the most meaningful artwork is something that simply reflects a favourite memory or subject.
